Steeltown Stomp – September 28, 2019

Looking for a distance and strength challenge? Earn a Steeltown Stomp badge! Climb more than 2,000 steps along the Hamilton Escarpment (six sets of stairs) and hike upwards of 20 km.

Registration is $25, covering snacks provided at two checkpoints and the badge.

The Steeltown Stomp is a collaboration between the Niagara Bruce Trail Club and the Iroquoia Bruce Trail Club.

Registration will be open until September 26 at 6:00am.

Hike/Run Description: Hike/run and climb over 2,000 stairs along the Hamilton Escarpment (made up of 6 sets of stairs: Chedoke-289, Dundurn-329, James-232, Wentworth-500, Kenilworth-387, & Uli’s -358) and hike 20 km along the Bruce Trail, Chedoke Radial Trail & the Escarpment Rail Trail and back to the beginning. Please, no dogs. This is not a race. 

Runners start at 8:30 am, please arrive by 8:15 to check in. Hikers will start at 9:00 am, please arrive by 8:45 am to check in.

Type of Hike: This is a self-guided hike/run. You must go through both check-points.

Hiking Pace: Set your own pace. Terrain: Strenuous

Please Note: This is an arduous hike/run because of the stair climbing involved. We strongly recommend that people participating have stair-climbing experience.

Checkpoints: There will be one checkpoint at the top of Uli’s Stairs (sponsored by the Iroquoia Club) and another at the end (sponsored by Niagara Club). Although water will be available at the checkpoints, you will need to bring your own water bottle. A light snack will be available at both checkpoints, but you should bring any additional food you might want.
